What if you were friends with your money?

For more than a decade, I have been talking to clients about making friends with their money. Most people have a really crappy relationship with their money. When they imagine having a conversation with their money it is pretty awful – filled with blame, shame and judgement. I invite you this weekend to spend some time with your money. Imagine your money is someone you care about but you’ve had a challenge, and argument, a separation. Your goal is to reestablish the relationship. just like you would with a friend. Answer the following questions to begin to imagine how things would be different for you. Start by knowing where you are now to Overhaul Your Money Life. Ask Yourself and write down your answers or discuss them with your partner: How would your life be different if you are friends with your money? What would it feel like? What would it look like? What would it sound like? What would you be doing or not doing that is different than now? Share your ah-has and insights with us! Happy Friday – have a prosperous and joyful weekend....

Are you Focused on What You Don’t Want?

Getting out of debt. Making money to be not so hard. Ditching clients who don’t pay. Sound familiar? Sandra came to me with these challenges and a desire to change them. The first thing we did was talk about a new way of looking at things. So often you focus on what you don’t want. Get out of debt. Don’t get old. Don’t be fat. Don’t have crappy clients. Don’t be lazy. Blah, Blah, Blah. So … since what you focus on expands, and you are focusing on all the garbage you don’t actually want, what are you expanding? That’s right! What you DON’T want! You will notice what you don’t want first for sure. You want to get out of debt. Pay off your credit cards. Lose weight. You push away from what you don’t want which gets you motivated to do something about it. Yeah to motivation! Here is the challenge when you stay focused on the problem or pain… Focus determines Actions, Actions Determine Results. What you FOCUS on is directly related to the actions you take. When you are focused on debt, you take actions focused on debt – counting how much you have, shuffling debt from one spot to another, juggling to make it work. Since Focus determines Actions and Actions Determine Results, you MUST focus on what you want to create the life, the business, the prosperity you really want. Turn around away from the problem and focus on what you DO want.. When you are focused on prosperity, generating revenue or savings, you take actions towards prosperity, revenues or savings. You make...

A Client Gave Me Cash (pretty brown ones!)

I know! It has been ages since I wrote. It took my community poking me to get me writing again. Thanks guys! It’s good to know my ideas are missed when I go quiet. With that in mind, I am going to share something fun and cool that I learned last weekend. I was running a focus group. I am creating a super cool new assessment tool to measure where you are on the Prosperity Curve™ based on your money programming, beliefs and habits. (Can’t wait!!) I asked a whole bunch of questions of the group and towards the end, I wanted to find out what thoughts, images and feelings have associated with actual money tools. So, I handed out a $50 bill and a credit card and was gathering the data. I realized as I was talking about it and holding the $50 bill, that cash, especially the bigger denominations, for me screams “FREE MONEY!” (with a big Woot Woot! In there too.) Now, I already tended to avoid cash, however, I didn’t realize that the feeling was so strong, and so specific to play and woot woot! We call that an anchor the feeling of the Woot! Is anchored to the bill so when I hold it, I got the feeling and the behaviour attached to that feeling. I used a very simple process that I use with my clients to shift from free money/woot to a feeling of confidence, motivation and the flexibility of choice. It took me about 90 sec to change it and cash is now much easier to handle responsibility. (You didn’t think...

Money is an INSIDE Game first

Everyone seems to want some new tool or strategy to make money easy to understand and easy to make. Here is what I know to be true: Money is an INSIDE Game first. I have been saying Make Friends with Your Money for more than 6 years! Now, I am SO done with giving people false hope. Tools are great … and they come AFTER. Listen – before you can implement a bunch of awesome tools, you must get your head in the right place. When you have your FOCUS in the right direction, then you can take the actions that will create the results you want. It is all so much easier when you focus on revenue instead of debt, isn’t it? Oh – I have a ton of great tools and we will get all of that good stuff … when you can actually use them. The first step must be to clean up the thoughts, beliefs and habits around money that are stopping you from making, keeping and using money effectively. Then you can use the tools. Cleaning up what is going on INSIDE is the gateway to prosperity. So – what is that one thing, that belief or habit, that big block to your prosperity? With love and light,...
