Listening to some training yesterday, I was reminded of the research by Virginia Satir, a respected family therapist, which showed that “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth.” Another study shows that hugging strengthens the immune system, boosts self-esteem and balances out the nervous system.
What a great reminder for all of us – especially during Valentine’s Day week. Whether you are single or in a relationship, find some people to hug this week. Tell them it is for their health!
